Levels of metals in rural topsoil in Trabzon, Turkey

Abstract

In this study, Cu, Pb, Cd, Fe, Al, Na, Ca, Mg, K concentrations were investigated in topsoil samples that were collected from a rural area at the Black Sea region, which was located within the borders of Trabzon city, Turkey. Pb and Cd concentrations were measured to be below detection limit. Enrichment factors calculated for Cu were found to be in the range of 2.96 to 18.72 for the collected samples. Data indicated moderate to significant soil contamination in terms of Cu in topsoil samples.
