The effect of temperature and pretreatment time of the hydrothermal pretreatment on the chemical compositions and enzymatic saccharification of poppy stalks was investigated. Hydrothermal pretreatment of poppy stalks was effective for improving the enzymatic hydrolysis yield. Hydrothermal pretreatment at 200 0C for 60 minutes improved the amount of reducing sugar by three times compared to that obtained from unpretreated biomass. Lignin removal was positively affected by temperature.Keywords
