Removal Lead of Drinking and Using Water Nearby Oil Fields by Electrocoagulation in Diyarbakir
Abstract
In this study, removal of lead has been investigated by the method of electrocoagulation from drinking and using water near oil fields. Samples have been collected quarterly from the drinking and using water nearby oil production fields in Diyarbakir during the one year period and the content of the lead has been monitored. Also, samples of water have been taken from 42 points by determining coordinates. It has been found that concentration of lead in the samples was approximately 15 µg/L. It has been detected that lead concentration in the samples are higher than the TSE 266 and WHO for drinking water limit value of 10 µg/L. Considering the toxicity of the Pb, the removal of the lead from the drinking and using water is a significant issue.
Fe electrodes have been used for the lead of removal by electrocoagulation. For the starting concentration 500 µg/L , the effect of the strength of the current, the duration of the current, the voltage and pH parameters have been investigated and respectively with the optimum 1.5 ampere, 22 minute, 26 volt and 3.80 were determined. Under these conditions, the treatment efficiency was identified 98%. In conclusion, it was suggested that lead of drinking and using water near oil fields could be removed used by iron electrodes and electrocoagulation process.
