Assessment of Climate Changes: A Case Study from Bilecik, Turkey

Abstract


In the last centuries, important changes and developments are occurred in the world. Due to the developments in the industry, climate changes are increased. Climate change is a significant change in the statistical distribution of weather patterns.

 

Despite the fact that Turkey has been one of the fastest developing countries in the world, its high population growth rate, unplanned and environmentally risky industry, ignorance on environmentally quality throughout the Turkey. Thus, Turkey is one of the sensitive area to climate change in the world. Accordingly, the purpose of this study is to evaluate the temperature variations in Bilecik, Turkey.

 

Bilecik province is located at the northwest part of Turkey and it is surrounded by Sakarya on the north, Bursa on the east, Eskisehir on the southeast and Kutahya on the south. Bilecik, lying in the fertile lands of the river, is the eastern neighbor of Bursa in Marmara region. In addition to, Bilecik is one of the important marble industry regions of Turkey.

 

In this study, an effect of temperatures changes in Bilecik is investigated. For this reason, the dataset is evaluated by using the statistical analysis techniques including t test and trend analysis. Trend analysis results show that the recent trend and distribution of temperature in Bilecik. Finally, this paper shows that the statistical analysis techniques such as t test and trend analysis has practical and make it advantages for the investigated climate variables such as temperature.
