Removal of Cr(VI) Ions from Wastewater by Waste Plane Tree (Platanus orientalis L.) Leaves
Abstract
This paper describes the adsorption of hexavalent chromium ions, Cr(VI) from wastewater by Platanus orientalis leaves. The effect of different experimental conditions such as pH, contact time, adsorbent dosage, chromium concentration, agitation speed and temperature on the removal of chromium (VI) was studied. The maximum removal took place in the pH range of 2-3, contact time of 90 minutes and initial concentration of 20 mg Cr/L. Equilibrium isotherm models were used to describe by both the Freundlich and Langmuir models. The adsorption isotherms closely followed the Langmuir model.
