A review of Accumulation of Cadmium in the Lepista nuda and Russula cyanoxantha

Abstract


Mushrooms play a principal role in recycling of energy and nutrients in terrestrial ecosystems. Their sporocarps are one of the important food sources for nutrition of human beings. In today’s world, environmental pollution is one of the problems of healthy life. Although their toxic effects are well-established, heavy metals have still extensive range of application in industry. It is known that edible, inedible or poisonous, all wild mushrooms can accumulate some toxic heavy metals, such as mercury, lead and cadmium. In this study, cadmium accumulation amounts of naturally grown and edible muhrooms Lepista nuda (Bull.) Cooke and Russula cyanoxantha (Schaeff.) Fr. species are given.
