The Study of Educational System Features Based on the Theory of Deliberative Democracy

Abstract


Democracy and its dramatic effects have been so generative from the early history of science and philosophy that different models have been depicted for it. One of the famous and practical models is deliberative democracy. Lessons and implications of this theory can be the basis for establishing the educational system; thus, the review of the educational system based on deliberative democracy is the main objective of the authors of this article. The educational system consists of components such as curriculum and teaching, teachers, students, classes, schools, teaching methods and evaluation system of the results. It is necessary to review and analyze all components of a system to recognize it. For this reason, in this paper, the characteristics of the components of the educational system were studied. According to the authors in this field, in educational system rooted in deliberative democracy, the objectives are agreed by negotiation and stakeholders’ bargaining and schools are the place to achieve these goals. Advisory school is a place in which students by the use of all facilities and the right to directly intervene in the affairs, strengthen their multidimensional skills. Classrooms are the scene for exciting talks and discussions. Teachers are the leader of education and students are directly involved in teaching. Their assessments are also different from traditional assessments and ultimately lead to the self-assessments. Although the educational system is advantageous, but not without difficulty and is not able to overcome some of the limitations in it.
