Socialization Of School Children And Extracurricular Activities

Abstract


This research has been performed to investigate the role of extracurricular activities in socialization of children in a practical and functional style. It has been fulfilled in academic year of 1389-90 in Tehran. Its statistical population is all fifth grade school children of Tehran. The research sample is 250 children who were at grade 5 at above mentioned academic year who were divided into five 50-person-groups. As one of the investigated variables has been the gender of the students therefore 50% of each group consists of 25 girls and the other 50% consists of boys. Sampling process has been performed by random cluster method. That is to say in five districts of city of Tehran including Tehran Educational Districts 15, 7, 5, 4, and 8 were chosen. In each district two separate boys and girls educational units were selected. From each educational unit one class and then from which 25 students were selected in final step.The instrument of the research is the self-made questionnaires (with the credibility of 79%).The results of the research are as follows:

1. There is a meaningful relation between socialization of children and curricular activities.

2. There is a meaningful deference between sociability and gender.

3. There is meaningful relation between extracurricular activities (athletic, social, artistic, cultural, cooperative, assistance and scientific) and socialization.
