Abstract

Abstract

The importance of recycling technologies increases with the harmful effect of the wastes to the environment. In this study, it has been aimed to improve a new additive for bitumen binders. So, leather wastes were liquefied by pyrolysis method and then the liquid product from leather wastes was subjected to distillation process. Pyrolysis is the thermal degradation in which liquid, solid and gas products are obtained through heating the raw material to high temperatures in oxygen free environment. In this study, distillation test was performed on the liquefied waste leather obtained from the pyrolysis method. The products obtained after the distillation of the pyrolysis liquid from the leather wastes were examined by some chemical tests. By this means, it is aimed to investigate whether this material from leather wastes usable for bituminous binders. Also, it is thought that recycling of wastes in this way will make good contribution to the environmental health and to the economy.
