Abstract

Spline regression models have been used in many fields such as operation, econometrics, medicine and agriculture. Effective results are obtained with the application of spline regression on datum which is not explained by linear and high degree regression. In this study, tourism demand in Turkey between 2000-2010 was researched by linear spline regression models. If attention is paid to scattering of tourism, it can be seen that although tourism demand is extreme in summer months, this demand becomes quite less in winter months. Max or min tourism numbers were considered as knot and according to this knot, linear spline regression model was set.
