Abstract

In this study, catalytic incinerations of the binary mixtures of benzene and toluene in air were investigated by using monolith supported Ni2O3 catalyst. The experimental study consisted of two parts; in the first part the monolithic catalyst was prepared on ceramic monolith support, in the second part the Ni2O3 catalyst was tested for catalytic incineration of 50% benzene-50% toluene mixture and 25% benzene-75% toluene mixture. A fixed bed monolithic reactor is used for catalyst testing. The experiments were carried out between 350˚C and 150˚C reactor temperatures and constant flow rates of the mixture and air at atmospheric pressure. The adsorption of hydrocarbons and other formations was searched for the catalysts that was analysed by FTIR, before and after catalyst testing experiments.
