Abstract

Textile industry which processed different raw materials and chemicals is one of the biggest industries in Turkey. Especially for textile industry, the discharge of dyes into the receiving waters constitutes big problem of water pollution and treatment. In this study, removal of dye from textile wastewater by adsorption with perlite and zeolite was investigated. To determine the best efficient adsorbent dose serial experimental studies were carried out with various adsorbent doses. Then color removal was studied at different contact time using obtained optimal dose. The color removal efficiency from textile wastewater with perlite and zeolite were found between 60-100%. Obtained data from the adsorption studies of dye stuff using perlite and zeolite were applied to Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models and correlation coefficients were indicated.  Both of adsorbents were found in harmonious with Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models according to high correlation coefficients.
