Morphological and Morphometric analysis of lakes in eastern zone in RibeirãoPreto city, Brazil.

Abstract


RibeirãoPreto is a city located north of the São Paulo State, Brazil, economically active, with great development in the agricultural and civil construction sectors. It is located on the recharge area of the Guarani Aquifer, where the water level is close to the soil surface of the city, an average of 46 feet deep.The city is one hundred percent (100 %) fueled by groundwater. The aim of the present study is to present morphological and morphometric analyzes after a bathymetric survey of the three lakes in the eastern zone located in the RibeirãoPreto city, SP, considered area of the recharge of Guarani Aquifer. The bathymetry of the lakes RecreioInternacional, Pesqueiro and Saibro were performed using the TC- 400 Wild- Leica equipment and the points were analyzed using the AutoCAD 2011 software, getting to obtain the basis of bathymetric data. The Recreio International Lake presents larger area than the Saibro and Pesqueiro. However, development index values margin of Recreio International and Saibro are very close, indicating similarity in the irregularity of the margins and in these two ponds, the circular shape approach. As the relative depth, the highest percentages were observed in Saibro and Pesqueiro, indicating that the thermal stratification could be more stable. The rate of volume development (VD) represent the shaping of the reservoir basin. The values for the VD obtained Recreio International ponds and Pesqueiro were 1.50 and 1.68, the slightly concave shape can be observed for both ponds. Already Saibro pond has a value of 2.57, indicating that the concave shape is prevalent in this pond. In this sense, morphometric parameters presented in this work for the lakes of the eastern district of RibeirãoPreto, SP constitute a unique and valuable tool for promoting to better environmental management of water resources.
