Abstract

Adsorption of color from textile wastewater onto Robinia pseudoacacia (Leguminosae) fruits a low cost plant waste material in a batch process was investigated. Adsorption was studied with variation in the parameters of pH, contact time, adsorbent concentration and temperature to estimate the equilibrium parameters. The color adsorption was attained within 120 min. Maximum adsorption of color was achieved at pH 2. The equilibrium adsorption data were analyzed by Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models. Equilibrium data fitted well to the Langmuir isotherm model. The adsorption capacity of the adsorbent was found to be 14.20 mg dw/g at 45oC.
