Novel oximes including 4'-(n-aminoalkyloxy)biphenyl-4-carbonitrile: Synthesis and Characterization

Onder Alici, Ibrahim Karatas

Abstract

This study describes synthesis and characterization of new monoximes in detail. Firstly, p-bromobenzaldoxime and p-nitrobenzaldoxime were synthesized by reaction of p-bromobenzaldehyde and p-nitrobenzaldehyde with hydroxylammonium chloride, respectively. The chlorination reactions of p-bromobenzaldoxime and p-nitrobenzaldoxime were realized by using N-chlorosuccinimide. The synthesized α-chloro-p-bromobenzaldoxime and α-chloro-p-nitrobenzaldoxime were then converted to 4'-(3-aminopropoxy)biphenyl-4-carbonitrile, 4'-(6-aminohexyloxy)biphenyl-4-carbonitrile and 4'-(10-aminodecyloxy) biphenyl-4-carbonitrile derivatives with appropriate amines, respectively.  All of the obtained products were characterized by combination of FT-IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and elemental analysis.
