Abstract

Increasing at world population, urban, industrial and agricultural activities have led to fresh water demand.  Fresh water demage or loss and some climatic events as drought also increased water requirement. All of these factors made wastewater reuse a current issue for making fresh water effective use.  Treatment of wastewater is basic regulation in many countries that one of them is Turkey.  The aim of this study is determination the effect of use of urban wastewater treated pilot-scale subsurface flow constructed wetland in Karaisalı-Adana on rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis cv. Abraxas) and lavander (Lavandula officinalis cv. Bella Purple) that are used densely at green area in Mediterranean Region. The datas related to plant growth qualifications have taken during vegetation period. At the end of the second year pH, EC and plant nutrition analyzes are made in the soil. All datas are collected and evaluated statistically by used SPSS 13.0. Irrigation with treated wastewater didn’t cause negative effect on plant growth for two species.  As aresult, wastewater treated at constructed wetlands may use as irrigation water for rosemary and lavander at green area. However, increasing soil acidity must be observed. Reuse standarts must constitude according to treated wastewater reuse area.
