Abstract

In this study, the effect of pH on the rate of bacterial oxidation of Fe (II) at different microbial concentrations has been investigated by using r4A1FC2B3 strain of Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans. In the bacterial aging processes for the growth of bacteria and proper pH value must be fixed accordingly. The pH values 2.0- 2.5 are the optimum values for Fe(II) and the sulfur bacterial oxidation. The bacteria r4A1FC2B3 which has been used in bacterial oxidation is acidophilic nature and they show the best performance within the pH values of 1.5- 3. In the experiments of bacterial oxidation of Fe(II), when the effects of pH are being examined, the pH values of 1.5, 2 and 2.5 has been used in the experiments temperature is 25 ºC.
